REFLEXION – unser Thema im September 2024

So wie ein Echo eine Reflexion des Schalls ist und wie ein Kameraobjektiv das reflektierte Licht bündelt, um ein Foto zu machen reflektiert unser Unterbewusstsein unsere Erfahrungen und beeinflusst so unsere Handlungen und Überzeugungen. Ohne Reflexion gibt es also kein Wachstum.

Christoph Peter, Projektentwickler für das Franck Areal, zeigte uns die Pläne, die er und sein Team für die Entwicklung des ehemaligen Fabrikareal der Thomi + Franck AG im Basler Horburgquartier haben. Dort soll ein neues Quartierzentrum für Kultur und Tanz, Kreislaufwirtschaft und Wohnen entstehen. Er erklärte uns, warum es gerade bei der Planung von Projekten mit einem Zeithorizont von mehreren Jahrzehnten enorm wichtig ist, ab und an innezuhalten und seine Pläne kritisch zu hinterfragen. Danach nahm er uns mit auf einen Rundgang über das Areal – so spannend was hier entsteht und vielen Dank dir, Christoph, für deine Zeit und die tollen Einblicke!

RITUAL – our topic in August 2024

Rituals add meaning and a deeper sense of connection to our lives.
Our CreativeMornings events have their own rituals - a coffee, a bite to eat and meeting likeminded people – so it was lovely to add an enlightening session by Daniela Fuentes to this event.

In her studio B.Yoga Daniela delved with us into ancient practices that serve as vital reminders of our human essence, fostering a sense of connection, purpose, and creativity. And during the rebirth ritual that Daniela did with us, we were able to let go of stressful issues and open ourselves up to new, positive impulses.

Many thanks for being such a great speaker Daniela, for opening up not only your beautiful studio but also this world of personal growth and creative endeavors for us!

We really enjoyed this gentle start to Friday morning, bonding with you, our community on a whole different level and your great interest in this topic! See you around, hopefully still relaxed, in September for the next event!

TRUST – unser Thema im Juli 2024

Vertrauen ist der unsichtbare Faden, der das Netz unserer Beziehungen und unserer Gesellschaft zusammenhält. Aber in turbulenten Zeiten können Zweifel unsere Stärken zunichtemachen.

Zwei wunderbare Frauen haben uns im Juli in ihre Welt mitgenommen, in der Vertrauen in sich selbst unglaublich wichtig ist: Therese Dumas und Iris Schelker.

Therese Dumas bewies uns, wie lebenswert dass das Leben auch mit 86 Jahren und einer Hör- und Sehbehinderung noch ist und inspirierte uns – nicht nur zu mehr Vertrauen in uns selbst. Unterstützt hat sie Iris Schelker, Sozialarbeiterin bei der SZBLIND Fachstelle Hörsehbehinderung und Taubblindheit, die uns Einblicke in ihre Arbeit gab.

Zu Gast sein durften wir diesen Monat im ELYS Boulderloft – denn auch beim Bouldern ist Vertrauen in die eigene Kraft und Fähigkeit der Schlüssel zum Erfolg. Danke an dich, Oliver, für die tolle Führung im Anschluss und an das ganze Team für eure Gastfreundschaft! Und an euch alle: vielen Dank für euer tolles Feedback und euer zahlreiches Kommen! Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Event mit euch!

PATTERN – unser Thema im Juni 2024

Patterns sind Muster, Strukturen, Vorlagen oder Ordnungen, die bestimmten, wiederkehrenden Regeln folgen und uns – sei es im Verhalten oder in der Gestaltung – immer wieder im Alltag begegnen.

Esther Baur gab uns einen Einblick, wie ästhetische Muster in der Architektur eine emotionale Brücke zu den Menschen bauen können. Ob im Kleinen oder im Grossen – in jedem Massstab können Muster das Bauwerk in eine Beziehung zu den Menschen setzen.

Zu Gast sein durften wir diesen Monat im CantiLena - eine Vegan & vegetarische, genossenschaftlich organisierte Kantine, die sich im Erdgeschoss von Lenahaus in Westfeld befindet. Vielen Dank für eure Gastfreundschaft und den leckeren Kaffee!

Es war toll, so viele von euch wieder zu sehen und wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Event im Juli!

Basel Art Summer Camp - Exhibition Tour

We had a great time on a Friday evening at Hyve enjoying the art tour that Monica Ray gave to our community at Basel Art Summer Camp. Together with members of Creative Mornings we could explore artworks by young and emerging artists and listen to the stories behind their creation. Some of the creators were there in person and having them sharing their artistic experience made the experience very special.

It was also great to connect with Sophie Zhao-Bovay, the host of Lausanne CM chapter. We could mix and mingle, and share some inspirations and thoughts.

We would love to have more opportunities to get together with our community for special evening and weekend events. Let’s make more time to connect, get to know each other, and simply have fun!

VIBRANT - our topic in May 2024

Our world is full of all kinds of vibrant masterpieces! Whether it is the beat of a melody, a view of a lush landscape or a spirited laughter.

Richard Harvell gave us an insight to the vibrant worldwide publishing scene and shared with us how at Helvetiq they are managing to be creative and impactful with books and games. And he explained to us why books still rightly deserve a place in our increasingly digitalized world.

Our generous hosts this month were Stellwerk and Out & About. Stellwerk association operates a start-up center that offers ambitious cultural and creative professionals an attractive place to work. And Out & About – a group of creative professionals with a mission to empower artists and other creatives. We really enjoyed our time under the roof of the old St. Johann train station! Thank you so much for having us!

It was a pleasure to have you all and we are looking forward to seeing you again in June!

SPICY - our topic in April 2024

When you’re cooking, spices add flavor, depth, and complexity to an otherwise plain culinary dish. Being open to trying new and bold tastes is a good lesson for bringing daring and originality into all of our creative endeavors. As they say, “variety is the spice of life.”

Rebecca Roberts shared with us how we can “spice up” our communication and discover a taste for well-seasoned storytelling! Using her native Louisiana Cajun cooking as a guide, she introduced us to the world of Storyweaving, exploring the importance of composition, experimentation, and how adding just the right amount of “heat” will make your stories irresistible. Also she prepared for us the most delicious Gumbo we ever had!

We were guests at CWTCH*, a commercial rental kitchen in Lysbüchel, where we enjoyed stunning views along with our talk.

It was a pleasure to have you all and we are looking forward to seeing you in May!

PERSPECTIVE - unser Thema im März 2024

Für die Künstlerin Nici Jost ist das Thema der Perspektive ein grundlegender Aspekt ihrer künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Farbe Pink. Nici erzählte uns, wie Pink für die eine gesellschaftspolitische Linse ist, die wie keine andere Fare im Spektrum zu polarisieren vermag und nahm uns mit auf einen Ausflug in ihre Welt voller Pink.Zugleich war es Zeit, Ciao, Bye und Tschüss zu sagen zum bisherigen Team von CreativeMornings und das neue Team Willkommen zu heissen.

NATIVE – unser Thema im Februar 2024

Valérie Can, Digital Native und KI-Tante (eigene Aussage!) sah sich mit Widerstand gegen das Neue und der Angst vor der Ungewissheit neuen Technologien gegenüber konfrontiert. Sie erzählte davon, wie es sich anfühlte, sich mit jenen Technologien auseinander zu setzen, die ihr am meisten Angst machen: KI und Roboter. Heute ist sie Managing Partner bei Raqoon und CEO bei Jinn-Bot.

Wir waren zu Gast im Impact Hub Basel. Danke für die tolle Location, den Kaffee für den Boost am Morgen und die Führung im Anschluss!

RISE – unser Thema im Januar 2024. Eva Nidecker ist die Gründerin von Open Ride. Vor vier Jahren hat sie in Zürich ihr erstes ungewöhnliches Spinning-Studio eröffnet, welches mittlerweile über 6'000 Mitglieder zählt. Was hat Eva als erfolgreiche Moderatorin und TV-Frau dazu bewogen, ein komplett neues Business aufzuziehen? Und wie hat sie bemerkt, dass es Zeit ist, diese Idee zu lancieren? Das haben wir direkt von ihr selbst am 26. Januar im neu eröffneten Open Ride in Basel gehört.
