川端康夫 Yasuo Kawabata

周囲を見渡せば、驚くほどさまざまな鮮やかな色に気づくかもしれない。 見慣れた色もあれば、ユニークな色や季節感のある色もある。 川端康夫は自然の色で布を染める。最も興味深いのは、それぞれの色合いが京都の特定の場所と密接に結びついていることだ。 5月25日（土）午前9時、私たちはスペース壬生に集合し、川端康夫氏に京都独特の色、その色の名前や場所に関する由来をお聞きします。 その後、近隣の川端商店に徒歩で移動し、彼の工房を見学し、解散します。  希望者は、クリエイティブ・モーニングの後、川端商店で布の染色体験もできます。

If you look around, you may notice an incredible range of vibrant colors. Some of them are very familiar, some others rather unique or seasonal. Kawabata Yasuo has chosen to use natural colors to dye fabrics, and what is most interesting, each hue is closely connected to a specific place in Kyoto. On Saturday, May 25th at 9:00 am we will gather at Space Mibu, where Kawabata Yasuo will show us some of Kyoto’s unique colors, tell us why they got their names and also where they can be seen. Later, we will move to Kawabata Shoten and visit his workshop.  After CreativeMornings, those who wish can spend the rest of the morning at the Kawabata Shoten and try their hands in dying objects made of fabric.
