About this FieldTrip

In this workshop we will explore our “Shadow Self” – the hidden side of our personality that drives our thoughts and behaviors and shapes our lives without our conscious awareness. The Shadow includes our “inner darkness” as well as our “inner light.” These are parts of ourselves we pushed away in order to fit in and survive, but that we need in order to be balanced and whole.

Repressing our Shadow takes energy and blocks creativity. In order to feel fully alive, energized and truly in the flow, we must learn to accept, integrate and even harness our “shadow qualities.”

Shadow work can lead to:

✨ greater openness.

✨ richer relationships.

✨a sense of wholeness and wellbeing.

✨ increased energy and creativity.

Agenda

  • In this session, we will use a mix of inquiry-based prompts, guided visualization, community sharing and silent writing time to help you recognize the parts of yourself you have disavowed, acknowledge the impact this has had on you, and embrace your shadow in the service of a more vital and creative life.
  • I will guide you in a visualization to meet and integrate an aspect of your Shadow.
  • After an introduction and brief presentation on the concept of the “shadow self”, participants will work silently on a series of reflection exercises.
  • We will share what we are discovering in the chat and in an open forum.
  • I will close out the workshop with tips for how to continue welcoming and integrating your shadow in the service of greater vitality and creativity!

What to know or bring

  • You will need a journal (or paper) and something to write with.
  • You are also encouraged to clear a nice space for yourself for the workshop. You might consider pouring yourself a cup of tea, or even lighting a candle or some incense to mark this as a special time for self-reflection.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
