About the speaker
Lydia VanHoven-Cook is the owner and creative director of the Grand Rapids-based brand storytelling studio, Lydia Writes Good. The studio was founded in 2020, originally as a freelance copywriting biz, as a way to rebel against boring, blasé branding and uninspired, unimaginative marketing. Lydia and team work to craft national and local brands with big personality, big color, a big voice-y tone, and big fun. Before going out on her own, Lydia worked her way up as a copywriter and ACD at boutique design shops, a global ad agency, and corporate in-house - winning over 50 industry awards along the way. During her career, Lydia has also taught at KCAD in the Graphic Design department, founded the Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival, and ran a progressive political zine.
