Our host for December is The Welman Project, which exists to uplift our community at the intersection of imagination, education, and the environment. Founded by lifelong BFFs Taylor Willis and Vanessa Barker and powered by the support of the North Texas community, The Welman Project is reducing waste in our landfills while lessening the financial burden on educators through the creative reuse of surplus materials. It’s a free warehouse for teachers, a destination for quirky finds for creative doers, a makerspace for everyone, and an eco-friendly way to transform landfill rescues into hands-on learning for all. The event will be held in the makerspace, “Dad’s Garage,” but you can tour the entire facility after the event. On a personal note, Brian Jolin, our wonderful CreativeMornings host who passed away tragically in July, was a big supporter of The Welman Project’s work.
