🌎 The Good Fight: Conflict, Use of Self and the Creative Facilitator

Overview 313 Lovely Attendees

About this FieldTrip

This workshop will give participants an opportunity to explore Use of Self through the lens of conflict: how it shows up in our lived experiences and how it impacts our professional and personal spheres.

We’ll discuss polarities related to how we engage with conflict and reflect on how those show up in our work with co-workers, collaborators and in other parts of our lives. A sharpened awareness of our automatic reaction to conflict in addition to skills for more intentional responses to conflict will support participants in feeling more confident and equipped in their practice.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ Exploring Polarities - Experiential learning moment to uncover how the concept of polarities can illuminate insights about our relationships to conflict

✔️ Practicing Mindful Conflict - After learning some simple techniques for responding to conflict more intentionally, participants will have a chance to practice in small groups

✔️ Closing

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Liz and Anne are independent consultants in the DMV (DC, Maryland Virginia) metro area, each with their own consulting practices focusing on conflict resolution, restorative justice and organization development. They are frequent partners who believe deeply in interconnection, community and choice while coming to the work with distinct points of view and curiosities. Outside of work, Liz loves to travel as much as possible, cook, practice yoga, and play with her very chatty toddler while Anne enjoys spending time in nature, searching out the best tacos she can find and flower arranging.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
