part of a series on Acceptance

About the speaker

Terence Yeo is the Singapore city lead of Sofar Sounds, a global music events organisation that hosts intimate performances in over 400 cities around the world. Every session is unique, and guests who sign up to attend would not know what to expect until the show itself.

Terence believes that because it is particularly challenging for independent artists in Singapore to embark on a journey of making original music, the community could find meaningful ways to support this local movement. Through Sofar Sounds, he aims to provide a platform for Singaporean artists to share their original music in intimate and respectful settings. Over the past 6 years, their team has held mini-concerts all over the island, in unique venues such as rock climbing gyms, commercial kitchens, old shophouse spaces, libraries, co-working spaces and people's homes.

Today, he also runs Oxley Stories, organizing community walks through one of the oldest neighborhoods in Singapore.

Join us for a fireside chat with Terence as we discuss what “Acceptance” means to him in the context of both the local music scene, as well as his personal journey and projects.
