About the speaker
Meet Shaimaa Elbanna, who will make us reflect on #corruption through her talk ´Light will only shine through transparency´.
Our March speaker is an Egyptian political activist and photojournalist who moved to Sweden in 2017 after being sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Egyptian regime for organizing a demonstration without a license in 2014 at the age of 17.
Shaimaa works as a media & communication officer in the human rights area, focusing on Egypt and the Middle East. A foundering member of @thesextalkarabic (on insta) a global organization that helps to raise sexual education and awareness among Arab women, Shaimaa is also locally engaged in Göteborg through initiatives that help adult asylum seekers feel at home in Sweden.
