About the speaker

Founding Partner, Candela Law Group, Freelance Photojournalist & Writer

Seth is a business and law guru with Candela Law Group who uses his profession to help local businesses and non-profit organizations thrive in a dynamic, complex, and competitive world.

He’s also a photojournalist, writer, and food/wine blogger who explores the world around him through lens, ink, and taste buds. A natural introvert, Seth has learned to enjoy the talking and interaction required in all his chosen professions. He even talks to strangers (shocking).

Seth loves the Asia Pacific region and has traveled there extensively. His sojourns include legal studies (at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong) and working for law firms in Hawaii, Australia, and China. Seth even had the opportunity to publish a few articles in China on the 2008 Financial Crises and Chinese commercial law and practice.

Seth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Marketing and Graphic Design, an M.B.A. from Chaminade University, and a J.D. from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. He served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Robert J. Faris and Honorable Lloyd King for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii before working as an attorney at several prominent law firms in Honolulu. With his co-founder and partner Zach Diiono, Seth established Candela Law Firm to support entrepreneurs, small- and mid-size businesses—including creatives—with high-quality legal services addressing the broad range of day-to-day issues.

Driven by a desire to learn about and experience cultures different from his own, Seth crafts work and personal life designed to understand and appreciate diverse cultures on a more intimate level and shares them with anyone who is willing to listen on his blogs (SETHTBUCKLEY.COM) and MUSINGSBYTHEGLASS.com. Seth believes that creativity is crucial in the legal and consulting world.

This August at CreativeMornings HNL, Seth addresses the theme: JUSTICE.
