Sean Alexander on “Create”

Steam Plant

part of a series on Create (cre·ate) | Create

About the speaker

Sean Alexander is a journalist and photographer from Hancock, New Hampshire. At 19, he joined the United States Air Force as a Photojournalist, spending ten years in the role that took him from his first assignment at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane to all over the Middle East. After leaving the Air Force, he found his way back to Spokane, where he has called home for the past two years.

Sean's relationship with photography started long before his military career. At four years old, he was handed his first film camera and never really put one down. Today he primarily photographs and writes about music, and when time allows, builds furniture from garbage.
Sean holds a Bachelor's in Journalism from Seattle University and is currently pursuing a Master's in Communications at Gonzaga University. He believes that no matter the circumstances, there is always room for creativity and art.

Additional details

Hi Spokane creatives! CreativeMornings Spokane is back, and this month’s global theme is CREATE.

Date: Friday, May 29th Time: 8:30–10:00am Location: The Steam Plant | 159 S Lincoln St. Speaker: Sean Alexander Music: Sleet Boy & the Easy Sleezys

➥ T H E M E: CREATE isn’t just something you do, it’s something you are. This month, we’re celebrating the passion projects, the half-finished canvases, the voice memos, the drafts, the ideas you keep coming back to. Adobe joined CreativeMornings this month to remind us that everyone is creative, and that the hardest part isn’t talent. It’s starting, and then showing up again. What are you building? What have you been waiting to share? May 29th is Release Day, a collective deadline for all of us to finally put our thing out into the world. No matter how polished or imperfect. Just made.

➥ S P E A K E R: Sean Alexander is a journalist and photographer who has been putting cameras in front of moments worth remembering since he was four years old. That instinct eventually took him into the United States Air Force as a Photojournalist, where he spent a decade documenting stories from Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane to across the Middle East. After leaving the service, Spokane pulled him back, and he’s been here ever since.

Today, Sean primarily photographs and writes about music, and when he has a spare moment, builds furniture from things other people threw away. He holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism from Seattle University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Communications at Gonzaga University. He believes, firmly, that no matter the circumstances, there is always room for creativity and art.

➥ D E E T S: This month we’re gathering at the iconic Steam Plant, where they’ll be keeping us fueled with food and coffee. Live jazz music from Sleet Boy & the Easy Sleezys will set the tone for a morning of creativity, community, and conversation. Come ready to connect with fellow Spokane creatives, and maybe finally commit to that project you’ve been sitting on.

➥ R E M I N D E R S: Paid street parking/lot is available. We encourage you to carpool or take the bus! Yay public transportation. This event is free and open to everyone: artists, makers, students, entrepreneurs, dreamers, and curious minds. Bring a friend and come early.
