About the speaker
Jawad Sharif is an award-winning Pakistani filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer known for spotlighting human rights, climate justice, and indigenous cultures. His acclaimed films include Indus Blues, The Losing Side, and K2 and the Invisible Footmen. A TED Fellow and UCLA Film School scholar, his work has won awards at Cannes World Film Festival, GIFF, and Spotlight Doc Awards. He founded Climate Kahani and Cinema for Change to drive social impact through storytelling. Jawad also serves as Festival Director of the Asia Peace Film Festival and advises the Forum for Dignity Initiatives, supporting gender and sexual minority rights in Pakistan.
