About this FieldTrip

Writing and performing a presentation can be a dreadful experience because you are an introvert. Something to highlight, confidence is key to a good presentation. And it’s easy to build your confidence when you know you have the right tools.

After joining this FieldTrip, you will leave with three hacks to build your presentation short and sweet:

• How to map your audience’s journey

• How to choose which data to present

• How to end your presentation like a winner

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ We will begin by clarifying the difference between presentations from other activities such as meetings, lectures, announcements, and speeches then stressing that having clarity of mind is more important than excelling in presentation-maker technologies to structure what to convey in a presentation.

✔️ From there, we will share how to take the audiences from where they are now to where you want them to be (map out the audiences’ thinking, feeling, and doing before convincing them through the presentation and after)

✔️ Then, we will present the anatomy of 10-slide presentations and how the attendees can follow that structure to build a persuasive presentation and how to choose which data (testimonials, clipping of news, and statistics) to exhibit in the boardroom.

✔️ Lastly, we will learn how to end the presentation using a perfect call to action for different occasions and get rid of the “Thank you for Coming” ending.

✔️ To end the FieldTrip, we will answer the list of questions from the attendees

❤️ This FieldTrip is HIGHLY Interactive and includes mandatory Breakout Rooms

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Rebecca Leppard, the founder of Upgrading Women, uses her Communications degree and 20 years of experience to teach women in tech: skills in presentation, problem-solving, strategy, negotiation, leadership, and internal communications. She is on a mission to help companies retain women and members of underrepresented groups so that they can rise up to the challenge in their careers. There are so many ideas thought of by women and minorities that are not heard because there are too many barriers and biases that prevent us from speaking up in meetings. If we don’t make the necessary changes, we as a society will lose out on life-saving innovations. As an early career builder, you may reach out to her here: linkedin.com/in/leppard

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
