Petra Zlatevska ist Australierin und lebt seit sechs Jahren in der Hauptstadt. Trotzdem begegnen ihr immer noch Dinge, die sie überraschen. Genaus so überrascht sie Berliner mit australischen Angewohnheiten.

Shock is an acute emotional response to visible or sometimes invisible stimuli. It is tangible in that we experience first hand. It can have positive and negative connotations. How do different people get shocked in their new country, when they come from a different culture? Whether it be the visible aspects of life such as new city they live in, the people they see around them and the things they do, the food they eat or the invisible aspects of life in a new place that still affects their lives. Petra Zlatevska has asked friends in her networks in Sydney and Berlin to take pictures of things, people, and places in each city of what they think that the other culture would find “shocking”.

About the speaker

Petra Zlatevska is a Berlin-based columnist, lecturer and communications professional. A seasoned public speaker, Petra is also a visiting lecturer at the Freie Universität and Humboldt Universität teaching courses on effective negotiation skills, legal English and inter-cultural communication. She also hosts workshops on these themes for companies and individuals. Petra is a past Burda Media Young Creative scholarship winner.
