Photographer, activist, and urbanist Patrick Reynolds treated our earlybirds to a passionate talk about âUnf**king Aucklandâ, and the transport revolution the city is currently experiencing. It was a fascinating talk filled with stirring facts and figures, as well a whistlestop tour through Reynolds diverse career.
Throughout, Reynolds illustrates how the various roles of shooting, teaching, blogging, and campaigning come together through visual communications.
About the speaker
Patrick Reynolds is probably best known for his exceptional architectural and interior photographs that appear in publications such as Urbis and HOME NZ. However over the past 20 years he has developed a highly successful parallel career as a leading photographer within New Zealand contemporary visual arts.
As an exhibiting artist his work is about New Zealand landscape, nature, architecture, patterns of seeing, and â just as importantly â about the art and place of photography. Recently he has turned his experience of photographing the built environment into a deeper engagement by becoming involved in activism for positive change in his native city of Auckland. This has led him to join the editorial team at transportblog.co.nz as well as teaching at the School of Architecture.
