About the speaker

Noreen Thomas, of Doubting Thomas Farms, is a respected farmer and researcher, residing in a 6th-generation farm north of Moorhead. She has a strong educational background, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in food and nutrition, microbiology, and chemistry.

Thomas is a renowned tea taster, having worked with Celestial Seasonings in Boulder, Colorado, and has also collaborated with NASA to examine satellite imagery. She is currently working alongside USDA researcher Brent Hulke on their farm, researching the development of perennial sunflowers and flax. Furthermore, Thomas has worked with native tribes to preserve rare Indigenous seed, demonstrating her commitment to community and sustainability efforts.

Thomas is also a recipient of several prestigious awards, including Disney's National Community Service Award, USDA Patrick Madden Award, the University of Minnesota Lifetime Achievement Award, The Siehl Award, Slow Food Delegate to Italy, NASA/UND grant cooperator for satellite imagery, and American Heart Association Creative Excellence Award. She is also a fellow from the Bush Foundation and a current Initiator fellow. Overall, Noreen Thomas's career is an inspiration to many aspiring researchers and farmers, showcasing the positive impact one can have on both the community and the environment.

We’re excited to see you once again at the wonderful Jasper Hotel, with this month’s event happening on the first floor in their Rosewild space. Doors will open at 8am, our speaker will begin at 8:15 and we’ll typically wrap up around 9am-ish. Coffee & food are provided!
