M.S. Sathyu is a man who has traversed the media right from animation (before the computer age) to theatre to film and television. His body of work as an art director and a film director spans over 60 years, bringing to life stories rooted in reality and also interpreting multicultural works of literature. He is a founder-member of IPTA (Indian People’s Theatre Association) that was formed to carry messages about social justice and integration post the Indian independence. Born in Mysore in the year 1930, Sathyu shuttled between Bombay and Bangalore making films like Garm Hava (1974), Bara (1980) and Ijjodu (2010). He is regarded as a mentor and a friend to all those who have worked with him.
