What are FieldTrips?
FieldTrips are meetups to interact, learn and collaborate in an effort to level-up your creative life.
We’re limiting these events to only 25 people, they’re like an intimate dinner party. Your absence will be felt so please make sure that you can definitely attend if you sign up. Also, we’re in the prototyping phase, so come with an open mind and be prepared for anything.
Thanks for participating! We’re lucky to have you.
Movement Learning: An Intro to the Feldenkrais Method®
April 5, 8:00am - 9:30am CDT. Hosted at MYO
About this FieldTrip
Movement habits–We can’t learn with them, yet we can’t function without them. Your most basic movement habits allow you to do what you want to do without having to think your way through every step. They also get in your way when you’re trying to do something new or do something in a new way. So how do you resolve the contradiction between the need for automated movement patterns and the need to improve your old skills and learn new ones?
At this FieldTrip, we’ll experience the Feldenkrais® approach to wiring and rewiring your brain for learning, refining, adapting, and innovating. Feldenkrais Practitioner, Michelle Drerup, will introduce us to Feldenkrais and guide us through a couple of movement lessons.
Wear clothes that are comfortable for moving. No need to bring a mat. You may be moving while sitting in a chair, standing and/or lying on mats that will be provided.
MYO is ADA accessible.
As a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2009, Michelle Drerup has been helping people do what they want to do with greater ease and coordination and with less pain and injury. She has helped her students do things as varied as the transition from sitting to standing more easily, stick the landing of a backflip without causing back pain, and function better with brain injuries and neurological disorders.
