About the speaker
Ming-Cheau Lin is a first generation Taiwanese immigrant and was raised in Bloemfontein. She studied branding at Vega School in Cape Town, then worked in advertising agencies as a copywriter.
During this time she also co founded the Cape Town Rollergirls NPO as the marketing & PR chair and a roller derby skater before leaving the scene to write about identity and feminism through the lens of food.
She is now a freelance copywriter, runs a food blog and just released her first book Just Add Rice – stories and recipes by a Taiwanese South African (2018), the first locally published East Asian cookbook.
