About the speaker

Michael Langan is an English writer and editor, who has been teaching creative writing for the last twenty years. He was the leader of the Creative Writing degree programme at the University of Greenwich in London and has a PhD in Creative Writing from Liverpool John Moores University. He has been Arts Editor of Polari magazine, the online arts and culture review, writing on visual art, literature, film and dance, and a Contributing Editor to the Paris-based Seymour Magazine. Michael currently works as a mentor and manuscript assessor reader for The Literary Consultancy, the UK’s foremost manuscript reading service. As a former performance poet he toured venues in the north of England and his short stories have been anthologised internationally. He now lives in Lisbon.

To be creative is to be misunderstood. At his lecture about Courage, Michael will talk about coping with crippling fears that creatives face when they have to put their work out there.
