About the speaker
Melis Aydogan is Turkish, American and the daughter of immigrant parents. She believes in being a positive voice for a lost generation of Middle Easterners marginalized by the media. She graduated from Boston University, competed nationally in Taekwondo and teaches self-defense classes to Muslim women, giving them an opportunity to feel empowered in their bodies. Melis recently founded Rüya, a Turkish coffee experience, to give everyone a place to call home. Writer’s note: Melis hardly mentions that she also works full-time at P&G while growing her own business. That’s the kind of amazing person she is!
