About the speaker
Marius Diserens was born in Lausanne, the second child of a middle-class family, from Vaud and of Italian descent. In addition to holding a Bachelor's in international relations and a Master's in gender studies, he is also trained in yoga and facilitates classes throughout French-speaking Switzerland. He is a project manager at UniSanté’s Health and Gender Unit, and also works as a freelance consultant in diversity, equity and inclusion. All these different roles are complemented by a non-professional political career — brilliantly elected to the City Council of Nyon, Marius is now a candidate for the National Council for Les Vert-e-s and is the first queer candidate to aspire to this position.
Marius is politically and professionally committed to the values of social and environmental justice, with pragmatic strength, vigour and diplomacy. He is often told that his innumerable indignities are worthy of dignity, and it is with this witty spirit that he commits himself day after day to a society that is representative of the richness of its population — proud, fairer and more united.

The preamble to the Swiss Constitution states that the people and cantons of Switzerland are “determined to live their diversity together [and that] the strength of the community is measured by the well-being of the weakest of its members”.
Nothing could be more clear — far from a “tyranny of minorities”, it is the sum of minorities that makes our society strong. And yet today, while we are certainly witnessing a narrowing of identity fronts, above all we’re seeing a narrowing of ideals, in terms of the rights and freedoms of minorities and marginalised populations and their fair participation in shaping the society of tomorrow.
How is the power of representation influencing inclusion policies in our country? What’s the face of the enemy we’re facing and what can we do to build back these bridges? Marius will touch on these topics and answer your questions at CreativeMornings Lausanne.
