About the speaker

Dallas’s own Mario Stanley is a contestant on the HBO Max series The Climb. After 20 years of climbing, a decade of coaching, years of outdoor guiding, dozens of podcast interviews hosted, and now a Docuseries– Mario can offer a unique perspective and unmatched enthusiasm about the world of rock climbing.

As a black man, Mario hopes to provide inspiration and representation to other climbers who have not been traditionally embraced. He is the founder and head coach for Go Beyond Climbing, which is dedicated to empowering physically impaired climbers. On his podcast, Sends and Suffers, he interviews people of all backgrounds, climbing and otherwise, to share stories of struggle and triumph. Day to day, Mario serves as Youth Program Director at Summit Climbing Gyms.

"Join me to hear about my 20 year climbing journey, which has brought me community, artistic expression, and purpose. I am one of the many forces working to make this rewarding relationship with climbing, and the outdoors, more accessible to all."
