About the speaker
Marina Hadjioannou Waters is a second generation Greek American who spends a lot of time contemplating how to create space with an intention of inclusion. After working and teaching in the fields of international public health and international human rights law in Arizona and Latin America, Marina arrived in the heartland in 2005. She founded Human Rights Works, an organization teaching basic human rights principles to public schools. She is now the President of Indianapolis-based LUNA, one of the largest language services companies in the nation. LUNA has been recognized by the Mayor and many cultural groups in our community for its wholehearted commitment to diversity through advocacy and supporting access to all Hoosiers. For her leadership in these endeavors, IBJ recognized Marina as a Women of Influence in 2017. She is a proud Volunteer Lead for International Services arm of the Red Cross and sits as a Board of Director for Exodus Refugee & Immigration and the Community Health Foundation. Marina is also a runner, photographer, writer, mother to two active kids, business partner and wife to a very tall Hoosier, and manager to her flock of 13 chickens.
