What Does it Mean to Be “Local”?
What if being “local” doesn’t always mean assimilating to where you arrive, but bringing YOUR culture, your passion, and your creative expression to find root in new community?
About the speaker
Born and raised in France, Lola Ohlala started training in classical and modern dance at age 4. At 13 she discovered theatre through a youth club. At 16 she was admitted at the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts where she studied with amazing artists like Jean Claude Cotillard, father of the internationally awarded actress Marion Cotillard. This brought her an extensive knowledge of the art of mime and body language. At 18 she entered a local theatre company and as part of a festival encounter the fascinating universe of the 1930âs European cabaret worldâŚ
Combining her love for dance and theatre, as well as her passion for women empowerment, French cabaret became her focus. She danced and choreographed shows in France for famous companies in St Tropez, Bourges, Paris and OrlĂŠans. She performed for global events in high-class venues, such as âla Voile Rougeâ in Saint Tropez.
She eventually parlayed her grace and beauty into modeling, walked the runway for French âhaute coutureâ designers (Christian Lacroix, etc.). She recorded French songs for movie music writers in Los Angeles and is proud to be one of renown French photographer Emmanuelle Choussyâs muses.
Life leading her to California, with the creation of Cabaret Versatile Lola brought the sexiness and happiness of French culture to the American public. She performs and choreographs shows in Los Angeles, as well as anywhere in United States and even overseas, such as Hawaii and Guatemala, always eager to take on new creative challenges and artistic collaborations...
