Maia Brock, writer, performance poet, and student at the New Mexico School for the Arts, shares their rituals she performs as part of her creative process and how rituals help an introverted writer perform in public.

About the speaker

Maiya Brock is a queer and soft-spoken introvert who writes poetry to elevate her voice and put her art into the world. She has been a Santa Fe Youth Poet Laureate finalist twice and her work has been published in the SFYPL anthology Through Lines. She has received awards for slam poetry as well as honorable mentions in contests such as the Scholastic Writing Awards and the Aldo Leopold Essay Contest. Maiya is an avid reader and knitter who enjoys long, quiet walks and nerdy discussions.
