About the speaker
Kyle is a Grand Rapids-based artist with a dedication to adding beauty to dull places and revitalizing stagnant communities. The Grand Valley State University Alumni has focused his career on creating art that serves a purpose. He’s recognized for his work as the Creative Manager at BarFly, where he created a firm brand foundation for HopCat, Stellas, Grand Rapids Brewing Company, and The Waldron. Alongside, Kyle served as the Interior Design Manager at BarFly, where he curated and crafted the design of The Waldron and several HopCat locations.
While his roots began in Tennessee, Kyle DeGroff is fully immersed in the Grand Rapids energy. He has created nine murals, varying in medium and size, with the most extensive being the hand-crafted HopCat East Beltline mural that utilized approximately 49,711 bottle caps. However, his dedication to Grand Rapids doesn’t end with mural work. Kyle has accumulated a lengthy list of Grand Rapids-based projects that include working with brands such as A.K Rikks, ArtPrize, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., 20 Monroe Live, MudPenny, and many more.
You are most likely to find Kyle delving into creative ideas with his colleagues, helping his friends accomplish their creative goals, working alongside Hannah Berry, or stopping to pet every dog he spots. Kyle lives his life on the basis on ambition and compassion, with the ceaseless goal of creating beautiful work that sparks community development and brings people together.
“Being lost is the collaboration between possibility and uncertainty.”
