Gibsons Community Building Society is a volunteer-led not-for-profit organization established in 2014 to create and operate the Gibsons Public Market and Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre. The vision of the Society is to operate a vibrant year-around community gathering place, learning destination and public market—a unique destination that enriches the lives of Sunshine Coast residents, families, visitors, and newcomers… for generations to come. Our public amenities and engagement programs promote health and well-being of residents, contribute to our local economy (more than 50 direct jobs) and raise awareness of choices that help reduce our community’s environmental footprint, including local food knowledge.
Founded on five acres of traditional Squamish territory just north of Gibsons BC, Deer Crossing The Art Farm is a registered non-profit organization of creative community builders. We believe that creative engagement outside traditional art spaces fosters a stronger sense of belonging for all involved. The more people feel they belong, the more they invest in their communities. That’s what we mean by creative community building: we build creative communities by building communities creatively.
