About the speaker
Katie Norregaard (she/her) is a children’s music songwriter and performer based in Chicago. She’s been described as “if Mister Rogers and AOC had a kid”. Katie produces videos online under “Miss Katie Sings” and has been featured on platforms such as TODAY and Upworthy. She believes strongly in using music to support social-emotional learning, creative play, cultural education, and justice.
In addition to creating videos, Katie writes and composes theatrical pieces for young audiences. Her most recent co-creation was “In The Grove” with Filament Theatre — an immersive outdoor play for toddlers to connect with the forest, presented in partnership with Friends of the Forest Preserves. During the week, she performs her music at libraries, schools, events, and virtually for families across the world.
When she's not working, Katie loves going on walks, studying Arabic and Chinese, and exploring more of what it means to be a partner, friend, citizen, and neighbor.
