About the speaker
Justin Morken is the son of a home-builder/inventor father and an art teacher mother. The resulting confusion and over-confidence has led to a tangle of interests. He works as a Technical Arts Director at Hope Lutheran Church, managing all their needs for sound, lights, video, and stagecraft. He also works as a liturgical artist, creating seasonal art installations for holidays and special services. Outside of Hope, he helps his wife Ashley at Unglued. There he creates retail displays for the shop, public art installations, and immersive experiences for Unglued events. Other interests include speaker building, DJing, drumming, and building classic cars and motorcycles.

Our global theme for January is RISE. It was chosen by our Tampa Bay chapter and illustrated by Miss Crit.
The sun must set before it can rise. So, remember, every setback can be overcome. Each new challenge compels us to tap into our reservoirs of hope and determination. To live a fulfilling life, we must not wallow. We must rise.
We rise from everything that came before. That’s why “rise up!” is a rally cry for the oppressed. But we should all be shouting, because our personal and collective empowerment are intricately linked. The rise of different voices creates a richer and more vibrant society. The goal is not reaching the top, it’s lifting each other up.
Together, we rise higher.
