About the speaker

Justin Bathon, J.D./Ph.D, is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership Studies and Director of Innovative School Models at the University of Kentucky. His work focuses on upgrading the school experience for children, the underlying code of education and the changes necessitated by the digital, global age. In Kentucky, Justin co-directs the Next Gen Leadership Academy and is the co-developer of Steam Academy high school in Lexington. His work looks at the intersections of education, law, and technology and translates research into specific actions for local learning communities. Justin has legal and educational experience at the local, state, national, and international levels including as a high school teacher in southern Illinois. He holds a J.D. from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in Education Policy from Indiana University.
