What would be a just society if you did not know what your place was going to be in that society?
If you build a just society, how would you prove to yourself that is what youâre doing? The only way we can say that it is actually what weâre doing is if none of us know what our place will be in that society. You canât say hereâs what would work given that I am 41-year-old white man in Utah. This is the question you should be able to answer in my opinion. What would a just society be if you had to come up with the rules knowing that I might be a woman in feudal Japan. I might be a gay man in the Ukraine. I might be Christian. Anything, but fair is fair and just is just. If you canât answer that question the best thing you can do is get closer to being able to answer that question for ourselves and then not being threatened when somebody says, “Well, hereâs what it looks like to me.”
