グルーブと音色にこだわる鍵盤プレイヤー。作曲家。シンプルなメロディー、日本的な間合い、ダンスグルーブが交錯する表現をつきつめている。国内外の様々なレゲエアーティストや、バンド「Lamp」等のサポートキーボードをつとめ、2010年ごろからソロ活動。
近年のテーマは、空気感・倍音・場所。
オリジナル曲のアルバム、森の鏡／街の鏡(2017)、つむぐ / yarn (2019)、カネタタキ／カネタタキ（鈴木潤＋片岡祐介）(2017)など。人形劇団京芸の人形劇「いぬうえくんとくまざわくん」「あっちこっちサバンナ」等の劇中音楽の作曲や、さまざまなユニークなバンド活動（小さい楽器・小さい音楽「カネタタキ」、即興ピアノ連弾ユニット「おっさん姉妹」、江州音頭を現代風にリアレンジするバンド「Bon Odre」、ちゃぶだいを囲んでお茶を飲みつつ小声でコーラスをする「ちゃぶだいバンド」、全国の校歌をアレンジして歌う「校歌部」、北欧伝統音楽を演奏する「Gammal Gran」「Luft」など）も行っている。
演奏活動と平行して、2000 年ごろから、子供やお年寄りとの完全放置型音楽即興ワークショップ「音の砂場」を続けており、近年では、日本センチュリー交響楽団、京都女子大学、東京音楽大学等で、即興音楽ワークショップのトレーニングや講座なども受け持つ。著書「音・リズム・からだ」等。
Jun Suzuki is a keyboard player who focuses on groove and tone. In his music compositions, he combines simple melodies, Japanese-style pauses and dance grooves.
He has worked as a support keyboard for various Japanese and international reggae artists and the band "Lamp", and has been active as a solo artist since 2010. His recent works focus on atmosphere, overtones and sense of place. Albums of Jun’s original songs include: Forest Mirror/City Mirror (2017), Tsumugu/Yarn (2019), and Kanetataki/Kanetataki (Jun Suzuki + Yusuke Kataoka, 2017).
Jun Suzuki has composed music for puppet shows such as “Inuue-kun and Kumazawa-kun” and “Acchi Kocchi Savanna” by the Kyougei (Kyoto Puppet Theater Company).
In addition, he has participated in various unique band activities “Kanetataki” (small instruments/small music), “Kanetataki” (improvised piano duet unit) “Osan Sisters", "Bon Odre" (a band that rearranges Koshu Ondo [traditional music from Shiga prefecture] in a modern style) "Chabudai Band" (a chorus singing in a low voice and drinking tea around a chabudai [low table]),
Jun also arranges and sings school songs from all over Japan and he runs “School Song Club”, “Gammal Gran” and “Luft” where musicians play traditional Scandinavian music.
Since 2000, along with his performance activities, Jun has been conducting a music improvisation workshop for children and the elderly called "Sandbox of sound", where participants are free to play, express emotions and connect through music.
He is also an author of books on music, “Sound, Rhythm, Body”.

【音楽ワークショップ】 「音の砂場」「音の運動会」「音の大縄跳び」など、こどもや高齢者との独特な音楽創作ワーク ショップを2000年ごろから続けている。2000年ごろから、自然発生的な音楽が日本でどう起こ るのかに興味を持ち、楽器を並べておいた中で鈴木本人が演奏している空間に子どもたちにば らばらに入って来てもらい、そのまま30~40分ほどなにが起こるかただ見守る、という「音の砂 場」ワークショップをはじめる。その後「音の大縄跳び」「音の運動会」など、いろいろな独自の ワークショップを、多数の保育園、幼稚園、小学校、特別支援学校などで実施。現在まで続けて いる。2012年ごろからは、老人ホームや大人の施設でのワークショップの割合が増えている。
In the 2000s, Jun devised original creative music making workshops for youth and old, such as “Sound Playpit” “Athletic Meeting of Sound” “A Great Skipping Rope of Sound”. His interests in unmediated music creation in Japan led Jun to design a specific environment to create music. “Sound Playpit” is a programme where participants arrive a room with instruments sitting here and there while Jun just keep performing solo, and wait and see what emerges amongst participants for 30-40 minutes. Jun developed his own workshop methodology and now applied them to the school projects including schools in special needs. For the past decade, he extensively works with care homes and adult facilities.
