About the speaker
Josh is an artist, designer, and dreamer. For over 10 years he has worked on some of the world’s highest performing, regenerative oriented, place-based architecture and development for McLennan Design, a studio of Perkins&Will. As an Associate and Director of Visualization he has collaborated with clients, communities, and exceptionally talented teams all over the country and world to imagine, dream, and visualize how architecture can contribute to a future that creates conditions for life to thrive. He brings creative zeal balanced with practical implementation to add value to future developments and utilizes technology to showcase the potential of what might be. He has experience working on projects pursuing Living Building Challenge Certification from urban developments like the Bronzeville Lakefront project in Chicago, new LBC builds such as HMTX HQ in Connecticut, affordable high-performing renovations like the ASHRAE World HQ in Atlanta, the first LBC designed homes in Washington State in Heron Hall, new educational campus for the University of Idaho McCall Field Campus, and in sustainability consulting on projects like Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
As an artist, he is co-founder of a new multi-disciplinary art studio, Fisher Bennett Sanchez, that is dedicated to creating inspiring place-based public art. The team has a growing portfolio of PNW based commissions from an approximate 300-foot mural for the City of Friday Harbor, a 120-foot mural for Sound Transit, multiple art boxes for the City of Bremerton, and currently a sculptural art installation for a 100-year-old Mount Vernon High School. Josh also produces art, illustrations, and designs for solo exhibitions. His content has been displayed in the annual Washington State Collective Visions Art Show and commissioned for private collections.
Currently, he is helping as a community advocate by leading a local effort that merges reverie, regeneration, and recreation through the Poulsbo Skate+Park project. A community initiative to create a year-round, centrally located, multi-use activity park for Poulsbo.
