About the speaker
Johanson is the pseudonym and patronymic of Belgian writer and storyteller Philippe Verkinderen (1981). He works for television, theatre and writes his own stories.
His tragicomic (short) stories often explore the theme of human beings as storytelling creatures, who invent their own myths and rituals to get a grip on modern-day life, and in doing so determine their own happiness— or seal their own fate.

Living in “in-between” times
We are living in “in-between” times. Technology, communication, interaction, human relationships, the climate: our whole world is changing at an incredible pace. Will we ever return to more stable times? Or are we now in a permanent state of in-between? And if so, how can we learn to enjoy that state and use it to our creative advantage? As a storyteller, Johanson has always worked in different creative worlds without ever choosing just one. From theatre to literature, from film to television, from podcasts to web series; it is his passion to keep exploring new ways to tell stories in a fast-evolving world. His talk on the theme “Liminal” will focus on how he manages on finding a creative inner compass in these chaotic times that enables him to explore new media without losing focus of his message.
