About the speaker

Jeffrey Alonzo Karahamuheto is a Rwandan- American organizer, artist, and educator dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices and fostering systemic change. As the Director of Organizing and Politics at the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties (ACLU-SDIC), he advocates for civil liberties and social justice.
 

Additionally, he is the co-founder of Hear Us Here, a project dedicated to amplifying diverse Black San Diegan voices. As a painter, his work explores these same themes, blending art with activism to inspire and uplift.
 

With a B.A. in Political Science from UC Merced, Jeffrey has collaborated with organizations like the American Federation of Teachers, Teach for America, and BLM. He was also the Lead Organizer for the San Diego Organizing Project and a 2021 UCSD Black Studies Project Fellow.
