About the speaker
Jake Lawler is a former football player and recent University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Jake is a self-taught screenwriter and is currently a staff writer at Disney+. He is a passionate storyteller that has a love for science-fiction and horror, believing that using those spheres to weave in resonant social commentary and feature a diverse group of people and ideas will help further and elevate conversations in Hollywood and abroad...as well as selfishly knowing that there's a hell of a lot of fun to be had when things go bump in the night. He also likes to lift heavy objects from time to time.
David Bulfin is a multi-international, award-winning designer who began and has sustained his creative career here in Charlotte for the past decade. As an Industrial Designer, David built his career on the core values of curiosity, patience, honesty and bravery, carrying with him diverse creative experiences, innovating in motorsport aerodynamics, medical devices, aerospace development and countless commercial and consumer product designs. For the past seven years, David has served as an experienced designer and as Product Design Director for BOLTGROUP, one of the most storied design-innovation agencies in the country. You may have seen billboards featuring his illustration work throughout the city last year as part of the ArtPop Street Gallery program. He was also featured on the acclaimed TV documentary series America By Design on CBS and Amazon Prime Video, representing Charlotte as a hub for design excellence. David is also a certified LEGO Master Builder, and this past summer, he answered a call to adventure by immigrating to Denmark, the birthplace of LEGO, to fulfill a lifelong dream as their newest designer. Today, he is dedicated towards fostering the builders of tomorrow, by crafting exceptional LEGO experiences for children (and adults) all over the world.
