About the speaker
Tilla Rudel is the Director of The French Institute of Timişoara, with a vast background in the French cultural network. Prior to this position, she was the Cultural Attaché and Deputy Director of the French Institute in Israel in Tel Aviv from 2014 to 2019.
Her career was strongly founded on more than 10 years at Editions Belfond, Editions du Chêne and Mercure of France. A natural step came with broadening her expertise into a communications and public relations agency, focusing on all areas of culture: books and the debate of ideas, the visual arts, cinema and performing arts. This led her to participate in the creation of the Marathon des mots de Toulouse, a festival of readings of literary texts by actors, founded by Olivier Poivre d'Arvor and Olivier Gluzman in 2005.
During these years, she also devoted time to writing and publishing two books: Walter Benjamin, the murdered angel at Editions Place des Victoires, a biography illustrated with archive photos, of the German philosopher Walter Benjamin, and Jerusalem, History, Walks, Anthology and Dictionary, a monograph of the city of Jerusalem in the collection of cities at Bouquins/Robert Laffont. It is a collective work that she directed and wrote with writers and historians specializing in this thousand-year-old city sacred to the three monotheistic religions.
And on a more personal note, Tilla feels that coming to Romania is like taking a trip to family sources, because her maternal grandmother was born in 1902 in the village from Huedin in Transylvania.
