Your Host

Cass Hebron

Freelance writer.

Brussels, Belgium

Hi! I’m a freelance writer based in Belgium, originally from UK. I write about environmental sustainability and climate action and have worked with a range of NGOs. I also run a climate action newsletter for anyone interested in doing more for the planet –> https://thegreenfix.substack.com/welcome

About this FieldTrip

More and more of us are feeling eco-anxiety about the state of the planet. Talking about the climate crisis is one of the most powerful actions you can take to help. This workshop explores the barriers we face to bringing up the often-awkward topic of climate change without alienating people, and how to deal with different responses. Attendees will develop confidence in starting climate conversations and empowered to take more climate action!

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ Short introduction to why it’s important to bring up climate conversations and what we mean by a ‘climate conversation’

✔️ Chance to talk to fellow participants about what’s stopping them from talking about it or the obstacles they encounter

✔️ Presentation of some top tips on how to connect with the person or group you’re talking to

✔️ Short activity to help us express our feelings and thoughts better

✔️Presentation of the Do’s and Don'ts of climate conversations

✔️Opportunity to try it out with other participants

❤️This FieldTrip is Interactive

This FieldTrip is interactive and includes **optional** Breakout Rooms.

about your host

I’m a climate communications consultant and editor of The Green Fix newsletter on climate justice. My goal is to make climate action more understandable and accessible to everyone and bridge the gap between concerned citizens and political change. I have experience working in the media teams at Fair Trade, Oxfam, Friends of the Earth, and have also worked as a consultant for BBC Media Action, World Federation for Animals, Climate Action Network Europe and others.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
