A single mom of five discovers her unlikely superpower—talking to strangers on trains—and learns that whether we’re C-suite executives or cookie delivery drivers, we’re all nomads searching for the same thing: genuine human connection.

About the speaker

Hope Henchey is a mother of five, a fearless explorer of cities by train, and a relatable new voice in the urbanist movement. A writer and content creator with a sharp eye for place and people, Hope has contributed to outlets like New York By Rail and is currently leading a national online book club and video series for Strong Towns.

She has an infectious love for people—especially strangers—and finds joy in shared spaces and deep conversations. When she’s not uncovering the soul of a new city, she’s chasing it closer to home, corralling her five kids through the streets and neighborhoods of Chattanooga, Tennessee. You can usually catch her on Wednesday nights riding bikes with the Greenhouse Growlerz, the best group ride in the country. (She might be biased.)
