Your Host

Monique Phears Meyer

Senior Graphic Designer and Educator at Studio South + Shore.

Tampa, FL, USA

I have completely transformed brands into becoming leaders in competitive spaces for the past 15+ years as a senior marketing graphic designer and educator. I have single-handedly helped raise millions and supported key business goals by translating strategy into clear, cohesive brand systems and high-impact marketing materials for multiple industries. With a Master’s in Graphic Design and Digital Media, I am highly experienced in print and digital design, and have taught multiple cross-functional teams how to become supporters of the graphic design profession.

I host global design workshops and have been a featured guest on Adobe Live, where I designed and taught my process live for two days to Adobe’s 1M+ YouTube subscribers. I have been a podcast guest and a speaker at the Texas Film Commission’s Women in Tech Conference. Highly active in the design community, I volunteer, mentor, host, and use my skills as a recurring judge for Adobe Creative Jams, as a reviewer for various college portfolio review panels, and as a board member at two colleges.

About this FieldTrip

Are you a small business owner who is trying to market yourself while also managing your everyday tasks? Are you overwhelmed with trying to do design on your own and trying to figure out how to work with colors, typography, graphics, etc. to make your business look attractive? Well, let’s get you out of your head!

I will teach you some basic graphic design rules that you can (and should) start to use immediately to improve your work. You will also walk away with free tools you may not know about that are available for your everyday design use.

If you want to volunteer to have your website, social media accounts or any other design work reviewed and discussed in this FieldTrip, send your information to director@moniquerenee.design at least five (5) days prior. I will review a maximum of five, so send it on over!

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
