About this FieldTrip

When was the last time you followed your own map? Too often we get sucked into how the world around us operates rather than following our own internal guidance system. We’ll be getting out of our heads and exploring new ways of seeing the world through maps.

This FieldTrip is an opportunity to carve out an hour for yourself to reflect and flex your creative juices. No artistic ability required.

In addition to being an interactive workshop, this is also a SUPER SECRET BOOK LAUNCH PARTY! 📕✨

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ We’ll be making two maps in our hour together—yes, one will be a BANANA MAP! (Don’t know what that is? The best way is to sign up and experience it for yourself.) You’ll be given prompts to guide you and help you get into creative flow, with time to work quietly while also being inspired by the community.

✔️If you’ve attended my previous Make A Map FieldTrips on CreativeMornings (#MakeAMapFieldTrip), you can expect the same spirit. If you’ve never experienced one of my workshops, stay open and you never know what wisdom may bubble up. EVERYONE is welcome! Tell your friends!

✔️You’ll get to hear about this secret book before everyone else + help me celebrate two years of work. I’ll share my map. (My 1st FieldTrip in 2020 definitely played a role in this journey).

✔️ There will be an opportunity at the end to share your map or be inspired by others. 🗺️

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

🍌 This is a BYOB event—Bring Your Own BANANA! No banana? No worries! Lemons, oranges, anything with a peel, or anything from the recycling bin will work great too. (Think anything non-traditional to map on—get creative!)

🖊️ Ballpoint pen

📄 Plain paper

🖍️ Markers/crayons/colored pencil (embrace your inner child!)

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
