About the speaker
Elmer Moore Jr. believes in people, places and things. A transplant to the Midwest, Elmer tells the story of his life in names and places. He’s founder of Milwaukee Denim Co., a manufacturer of premium apparel and accessories that embodies the grit, simplicity, and beauty of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He came to Milwaukee from New York City in 2013. Elmer is also the Executive Director of Scale Up Milwaukee, an initiative of Greater Milwaukee Committee and an entrepreneurship instructor at Marquette University. He is also a former professional modern dancer. But that’s another story altogether. He earned a B.A. from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and M.B.A. from Columbia Business School in New York City.

Since 2005, Kickapoo Coffee has worked to forge lasting, equitable partnerships with small-scale farmers. They work directly with coffee cooperatives and growers to ensure high standards for quality, sustainability and farmer compensation. Last year, they installed a 25-Kilowatt solar array at their roastery in Viroqua, WI, which provides 100% of the energy needed to roast their coffee beans. Stop by their cafe in the Third Ward to enjoy coffee, food and good cheer.
