Helen Lawson Williams

Hey lovely Morning people! I’m Helen, founder and incurably curious explorer of all things Design, Tech and Impact. With a PhD in organisational psychology, I’ve spent 20 years leading high-performing teams, and had the privilege of coaching dozens of dedicated, creative folk to do their best work while looking after their health.

About this FieldTrip

Does it feel like you’re constantly juggling All The Things but never quite nailing anything?

It’s not just you: almost 40% of us met the criteria for workplace burnout in 2024, and we know burnout among creatives is much higher.

This fun, interactive session will:

  • bust some big burnout myths

  • zoom out to see the whole picture on what drives burnout

  • explore how your environment and your brain might be sabotaging you

  • prototype a personal system that produces flourishing instead of burnout

  • plan the small daily steps you need to flip your current system

Agenda

  • In the first 30 minutes we'll cover 4 short, fun, research-based exercises that bust these 4 big myths:
    1. Burnout is all about paid work
    2. We just need to be more resilient
    3. Emotions are irrational
    4. Success is about willpower

  • Then we'll have 15 minutes to see how those myths drive a system that creates burnout, how to flip that system to create flourishing, and some small daily steps that produce very different results.

  • Depending on how chatty we get through the exercises, there should be 15 mins for Q&A at the end.

What to know or bring

  • We're going to get hands-on, so bring whatever you prefer to work with: paper / pens / pencils, magazines / glue / scissors, post-it notes and wall space, tablets or other drawing tools

  • The idea is that you end up with a prototype that you can refer back to and refine over time, so think about what will work best for you

What to expect

Workshop format!

A hands-on session where participants get to build, craft, or create something tangible.

Optional afterparty!

Bring your extrovert self if you want to meet new people and chat after.

It will be recorded!

The recording will be shared within 24 hours in the follow up email for a 4-day window, and available at the top of this page. Make sure to register for access!

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
