“Muscat chapter Dina Macki talk about transit”

The event will be in English and Sign language! October’s Theme is Transit. How can we make space for new ideas and creative energy while staying in place? While cars, trains, boats, planes, and our many modes of transportation may take us where we need to go — taking note of our inner worlds and soaking in the details around us can often be the best vehicles of renewal. Your search might lead you to long strolls in nature, cooking to your favorite tunes, gazing up at the sky, or getting lost in an immersive process. Finding your calm and filling your cup first will help you become a fuller version of yourself — not only for you, but also for those who might need you. Make a list of activities you can turn to when you need to get from point A to B. Leave it somewhere you can easily access and turn to it when things get tough. Our Cleveland chapter chose this month’s exploration of Transit and Aleea Rae illustrated the theme.

About the speaker

Dina was born and raised in the UK to Omani Parents, while England is her home, her heart is split between Oman & food, which is reflected through her career & passion projects. She works for the Anglo-Omani Society day to day which involves her maintaining and amplifying the UK/Omani friendship through cultural and business relations, while in her spare time acts as the ambassador to Omani Cuisine. Her passion for Omani food and food in general dives deeper than enjoying cooking, but more so about how what we eat and put on our plates connects us to our identity. How being that third culture kid that was raised in a different country to her origins has led her to use food as a way to figure out who she is and explain where she comes from, in turn teaching us that we are not from that one place we were born in, but more so an amalgamation of our families, history and our countries travel. Dina now hosts supper clubs and produces digital content creation for brands to continue emphasising the unique ways in which her Omani/British identity promotes a better and bigger light on Oman, the region and a different side to the Eastern world through food.
