Your Host

Exa Kutler

Former Head of Community at CreativeMornings.

Brooklyn

I’m Exa, based in Brooklyn, where I work as the Head of Community at CreativeMornings.

At the heart of my work is a desire to support adults in feeling confident, curious, and compassionate in the face of creative learning, personal reflection, and everyday life.

I live in Brooklyn with my dog Jack Charles. I love sparkles, making indiepop music, and I draw cartoons with a non-binary character named bean, and help out with The Strangers Project.

About this FieldTrip

At CreativeMornings we believe that learning happens not only through the passive transmission of information from “host” to “participant” but also through hands-on integration, reflection, and community engagement.

In this session, we’ll begin to flesh out our workshops, learning how to design a run of show that balances content, connection, and time for digestion.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ Now that we’ve got our What and Why, in the 2nd part of this series, we’ll explore how to integrate activities, engagement, and reflection into your FieldTrip or Virtual Workshops.

✔️ We’ll share tools & templates including Chat Scripts, Run of Shows, Activity maps, and more.

✔️ By the end of the FieldTrip, you’ll be ready for Session 3, where we’ll think through slide creation, branding, and all things visuals.

❤️ OPTIONAL POST-FIELDTRIP BREAKOUTS:

The FieldTrip itself will run for 75-minutes with an option for 15-minutes of breakout rooms after the event. This time will be protected for those who would like to explore or integrate in community with one another.

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

✔️ I recommend you check out the materials and recording from Session 1 (to be released by 9/13/23) — however, anyone is welcome, and you’ll be able to learn and do the exercises regardless!

✔️ Bring any idea that you have for a FieldTrip or Virtual Workshop!

✔️ Markers, Paper, things to get crafty with!

✔️ We’ll be using Adobe Express (it’s free!) for our interactive templates. Take a look around and tinker before the FieldTrip so you can get familiar with some of the features!

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Hi, I’m Exa! As a designer and educator, I’m passionate about collaboration, learner-centered experiences, curiosity, and play. As the Head of FieldTrips at CreativeMornings, I’ve supported hundreds of Virtual Learning Experiences from facilitators worldwide. I’ve also built the best practices of the program through codes of conduct, host handbooks, and strategic scaffolding.

My work at FieldTrips reflects my desire to support adults in feeling confident, curious, and compassionate in the face of creative learning, personal reflection, and everyday life.

ABOUT THE SERIES

Dreaming of hosting a workshop, FieldTrip, or virtual experience, but not sure where to start? You’re in the right place.

Join Exa, Head of FieldTrips at CreativeMornings, and Adobe Express for a hands-on, beginner-friendly, 4-part series that will equip you with the tools to design a captivating and engaging Virtual Workshop from start (where do I even begin!?) to finish (post-event promo!).

Our hope is that you’ll leave with some awesome personalized materials to get you on your way with making an experience come alive.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
