Activist and musician DeBraun Thomas shares his experience in raising the voice of the people to enact change.

DeBraun Thomas organized the “Take Back Cheapside” movement, a now-successful effort to relocate Confederate statues in downtown Lexington, KY. The movement’s ongoing goal is to thoughtfully and consistently encourage Lexington officials – through word, deed and direct action – to do more to align the city’s public markers with our more difficult memories. In his talk, DeBraun shares a story of courage, perseverance, solidarity and the power of the people to impact real change.
