Who do you want to be? How do you want to feel? What do you want to create in the world? If you’re honest with yourself about these three questions, according to Daniel Oppong, you’ll be required to go beyond something. So what is your beyond?

Daniel’s life’s journey, so far, from Texas to Washington and now to Nashville, has required him to repeatedly recalibrate his assumptions, goals, and expectations, often suddenly and without warning. These turning points led him to the understanding that the most disappointing or disillusioning experiences of our life force us to confront questions about who we are, and what matters to us. Daniel shares some of his philosophy of living, suggesting that we all have to find ways to go beyond – beyond ourselves and what we’ve done before. He shares a simple recipe to “tap into that part of your heart that longs to create something beautiful in the world,” and he asks a simple question: what keeps you from your ‘beyond’?

About the speaker

Daniel has been part of the local entrepreneurial scene since joining Jumpstart Foundry in 2015. Originally from the Dallas area, Daniel came to Nashville by way of the Pacific Northwest where he attended Gonzaga University and received a masters in Organizational Leadership.

As Talent Manager at Jumpstart, he focuses on “all things people”, culture and organizational design. He also recently founded OhanaHealth, an internship experience company that places students from all over the country in healthcare innovation startups.

Daniel has a passion for creating communities around shared interests/experiences and connecting people to people, ideas and opportunities. More often than not, you’re likely to find him waxing poetic about life, love, happiness and everything in between, or engaged in a convo idealizing about what would make the world a more magical place.
