Sarah Cook

Creativity Mentor & Writing Coach.

The Dalles, OR, USA

Hi! I’m Sarah Teresa Cook. I’m a neurodivergent writer, poet, and creative mentor. I guide folks in tending both sides of their creativity: the work itself (their tangible projects and practices) as well as their spiritual-emotional relationship with a sense of purpose. I do this with an eye toward enchantment, sustainability, and the transformative power of written words.

About this FieldTrip

In this FieldTrip, we’ll investigate what creative success looks and feels like to each of us–on our own terms.

Through prompts both playful and reflective, we’ll get curious, think deeply, and write our way toward some definitions of creative success that prioritize internal experience over external outcome.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ This workshop is all about using the page to tap into curiosity and create powerful insight.

✔️ We’ll begin with some strengths-based community invitations, which will help us show up in the space more fully.

✔️ We’ll take a look at some quotes from other writers (including Melissa Febos, Sheila Heti, and Brené Brown) that offer inspiration for today’s investigation.

✔️ We’ll walk through a series of prompts that help us explore and clarify different aspects of our creativity and our experiences of “success” and “failure.” We’ll spend the majority of our time here, writing while being in community with each other.

✔️ We’ll wrap up with a brief overview and, depending on the time, some opportunities to share out loud. Sharing & witnessing are welcome in the chat throughout.

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

✔️ A way to write! Note: Options for writing by hand are strongly encouraged, including a few unbound sheets of paper that can be lined up side-by-side (for an easier time with tracking & noticing things across multiple prompts).

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
