About the speaker
Václav Cílek is a Czech geologist, climatologist, writer and philosopher, who explores interactions between environment and civilization. After his studies at a high school in Tanzania, he graduated in geology from the Charles University in Prague. Mr Cílek from the Institute of Geology, Czech Academy of Sciences, published several popularization books and many articles. In 2009, he was awarded the Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 Prize.
