Jennifer Refat

Founder at Craftic.

Toronto

Jen Refat has been making and crafting for as long as she can remember. She’s the maker (crafter & software developer) behind Craftic.com. Craftic is a platform all about crafting with your stash - you’ll find lots of inspirational tutorials and content with colorful photography!

She has been hosting virtual craft meetups since March 2020 (and in-person meetups since 2018). Jen enjoys meeting and learning from other crafters and is delighted to hear feedback about her meetups being both relaxing and productive!

About this FieldTrip

✂️ As crafters, we have a lot of craft supplies and project ideas but we often don’t make time to work on these projects.

✂️ Dust off your Works in Progress or bring a new project and make time for yourself and your art!

✂️ You’ll meet new crafty friends and share what you’ve been working on.

✂️ Learn what others are making as well as get some tips for your project.

✂️ Any and all types and levels of craft are welcome!

Agenda

  • In the first 10 minutes, we'll get ideas of how to craft with your stash aka using what you've got!  The ideas will be focused around paper, paint, and yarn. We can discuss additional materials during the rest of the meetup.
  • We’ll spend the next 45 minutes hanging out, chatting about our projects, and have focused crafting time to make something!
  • In the last 5 minutes, we'll do a quick show & tell of what we've worked on!

What to know or bring

  • Bring whatever supplies you need for your craft. Set up your work area, get your supplies (somewhat) organized, and be ready to start!

What to expect

Immersive experience!

Participants engage in activities where they're part of the action, such as music events, sound baths, co-working sessions, or movement classes.

It will be recorded!

The recording will be shared within 24 hours in the follow up email for a 4-day window, and available at the top of this page. Make sure to register for access!

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
